Why You Don’t Need More Followers to Hit $10K Months in Your Business

Did you know that subscriber or follower count has nothing to do with how much money you can make in your biz?

Yep. Not a single thing. Other than you might be getting some traffic to your website, but that’s only if you have the right people following you.

I know it doesn’t feel like it, but that number doesn’t have an impact on your bottom line. It’s really nothing more than a vanity metric. Nice, but totally not needed. Especially not when we’re talking about how to increase revenue on a monthly basis! It’s more about finding the right people and nurturing them along the customer journey!

If you want to hit $10K a month you don’t need a BIG audience…you need the right audience. And in this post, I’m going to break down exactly how you can do that.

How big your audience really needs to be to hit $10K months

It all comes down to your revenue ratio. You need to break down how much you need from each of your offers to hit those money goals (and in this post, we’re looking at $10K as a goal, but feel free to think through whatever number you want).

Let’s take a look at what your offer stack would need to look like. You basically need one offer at each stage of the customer journey.

  • Low ticket offer: $37 digital product

  • Mid ticket offer: $397 online course

  • High ticket offer: $2,500 DFY service

In order to hit $10K, you’d need to make these numbers:

  • 25 digital products sold at $37 = $925

  • 4 online courses sold at $397 - $1,588

  • 3 DFY clients at $2,500 = $7,500

That gets you to $10,013 (and some spending change for some Ben & Jerry’s, right? 😉)

So how does this impact your audience?

As you start to track your actual metrics you will get better numbers for you but for this post, we’re going to look at industry standards…

  • Digital products: 5% conversion rate = 500 people to see your digital product to get 25 sales

  • Online courses: 2% conversion rate = 200 people to see your course sales page to make 4 sales

  • DFY clients: 20% conversion rate = 15 people to see your services to get 3 to convert

As you can see, you can literally be making $10K a month with these numbers — it’s less than 1,000 followers!

One person, one problem

So what’s the key to all this? You need to solve one problem, for one person. For each level of that funnel.

As a service provider, I know you feel the pressure to grab as many clients as possible. But if you’re doing it for everyone, you’re doing it for no one. And if you aren’t clear on WHO you’re talking to, how will they know you are talking to them!?

That’s how you protect yourself against confusing algorithms that seem to skip out on pushing your content. Or the number of resources your audience has to choose from. Getting specific about who you’re talking to means that when they discover you, they’ll know right away if they want to start this (customer) journey with you.

Creating content to grow your audience

Breathe a sigh of relief people...you don’t have to be EVERYwhere to grow an audience.

I used to think you did. And guess what? It never worked! I was wearing myself thin trying to do it all and ended up posting crap content because I didn’t have the energy to be intentional with everything.

So last year, I decided that I would just focus on YouTube and Instagram.

Does that mean you have to pick those too? No, you just need to figure out what works best for you (where you enjoy creating content) and your audience (where YOUR people are hanging out), and then show up there!

DISCLAIMER: You won’t grow an audience overnight

Does it happen? Sure. People go viral and gain a lot of followers fast. But that’s not an audience. Not all of those followers are people who are going to buy from you. And that’s where the strategy comes into play.

Because what good is it to work super hard to create content that goes viral and then not get any money from it? That would be so draining, and frustrating, to have to do over and over! Make better use of your time and let go of the expectations of hitting the jackpot.

Instead, focus on building a reputation. You need to give people time to get to know you so you can ease them down the customer journey/sales funnel.
