15 Digital Product Ideas for Your Online Business

It seems like digital products are the one thing on everyone’s mind lately. And you want in on it too! But where do you start? And most importantly: How do you come up with an idea that hasn’t been done too many times before?

That’s what I’m going to show you in today’s post! You’ll get a few digital product ideas (15 to be exact) that you can utilize no matter what your small biz specializes in.

What to know about selling digital products

Before we dive into all the digital product ideas, there are some things I need to get off my chest — some things I think would be very, very helpful for you to know before you dive into making your own…

First: Stay away from Etsy!

I know it seems like a good place to sell digital products, but that’s not the case anymore. The fees are sky-high (we’re talking 5-6.5% in transaction fees alone), and there are many of them.

Plus, Etsy is in control over your business, not you. Just like with social media platforms, they have their own algorithm that has control over who sees your offers…which can be pretty frustrating when you’re just trying to sell your products!

If you want to read more about this, my friend Christina Scalera made a post about selling on Etsy here.

Second: Digital products won’t make you an overnight success

Digital products can do a lot for you, but they’re not going to make you money overnight. If you think that you can put one together over the weekend, and come Monday you’ll be raking in the profit, you may need to lower your expectations.

The point of a digital product is to supplement what you have, so you can work your way up to those $10K months without having to be IN your business 24/7.

Now for those digital product ideas…

Workbooks and guides

One of the best ways to create a digital product is to collect the information you already have and put it into a product. What I mean is that you can take some of the course material from a workshop, mastermind, course, membership, etc., and sell it as a one-off offer.

Here are a few of my favorite examples:

Templates

This is probably the most common and easiest idea for a digital product! If you’re a service provider, it’ll be really easy for you to come up with ideas! Just think of something you already do/offer your clients — like creating social media graphics or writing email copy — and think about how you can turn that into an easy-to-customize template!

My favorite examples:

Printables and Artwork

If you’re a crafty person, you may find your place in selling printable artwork. Whether you’re a photographer who wants to sell digital art bundles and stock photo galleries, or a designer who wants to sell digital art quotes and designs, this can be a great way for you to bring in some money in addition to your services.

My favorite example:

Workshops

If you’ve ever done a live training (or something similar) — good news! You can turn that training into a workshop or mini-course in your digital product shop. You can give people access to the training via email. Or if you want to start from scratch, you can record your video/presentation, and sell it as a digital product too.

My favorite examples:

Project management tools

You’d be surprised at how many people have never even touched a project management platform/software but really want to get started. But learning something new, and then knowing how to use it in your business can be overwhelming.

So templatizing your Trella/Asana/Notion boards are a great idea because it easily allows people a way to get started!
