Selling Online Courses? Here’s How to Use YouTube to Drive Leads

So you created a course, added all those bells and whistles, put it up for sale, and…nothing.

Or maybe you’ve had a course for a while now, but noticed a dip in your sales, but no matter how much you feel like you talk about it, you still aren’t seeing your sales go back up.

I know what it feels like to wait and wait and wait to get more sales, or plan for the dreaded launch when there’s so much uncertainty about how it may go. And while there is always a time and a place for a launch in your online course business, you also want consistent sales coming in each month, right?

Well…YouTube can drive leads if your strategy is done right.

Forget what you’ve heard about video content, evergreen funnels, and launch plans when it comes to YouTube.  I’ve been in the YouTube game now for almost eight years and it’s the #1 traffic generator in my six-figure business. Not to mention, I have a list of clients who all grew their businesses the same way.

When I tell you it works, it works. And that goes for those of you selling courses, too!

In this post, I’m going to break down some of the BEST ways to market, drive leads, and sell your courses with the power of an awesome YouTube strategy. You ready??

First things first…why YouTube?

It may look like my YouTube channel has plateaued, or only gets a few hundred views per video, but in my opinion, it’s the best platform to reach your target audience.

While I may be currently getting fewer views per video than some of the YouTube gurus out there, traffic to my offers is the highest it's ever been. And evergreen sales are the highest they’ve ever been. All this while only launching ONCE so far this year, all because my YouTube strategy brings in the right people who want to buy.

In fact, I know people who are getting thousands of views on each video but are still struggling to make six figures in their business. Why? Because they’re worried about the VIEWS on their channel, not about the audience they’re talking to.

YouTube is made for business owners who want to show up, provide valuable content for their audience…and are focused on connecting with that audience on the platform.

It’s all about the people you’re showing up for. Not the metrics, no matter how nice they are to see.

Build trust with your audience

I know I say this a lot but I cannot stress it enough. You need to ensure you are creating the content YOUR audience is searching for.  Your goal, honestly, isn’t to go viral on YouTube. It’s to make money in your biz.

When you are intentional about who you are creating videos for on Youtube, your people will find you.

So what does that look like exactly? For starters, you need to have a sales funnel set up. Because most people aren’t going to buy from you the first time they click on your website. That’s why this is so important!

And it always starts with a lead magnet (aka a freebie!). It gives you the chance to build some sort of connection and a level of trust before you even ask them to buy from you. And once you do that, it’s so much easier to land the sale.

Find out what they’re asking

I always tell people that if they’re uncertain about what their audience wants to see, to get nosey and look at what kind of comments they’re making on videos similar to accounts like yours (big or small). This is a great way to find out what’s going on in your niche and to see how you can help your audience with things they’re struggling with.

And if you’re thinking, “Well, hasn’t someone already talked about this?” Yeah maybe..but YOU haven’t. You have your own unique style that’s going to resonate with your audience over other accounts. Your uniqueness is important here because we all consume content and learn differently.

Make a series

You need to get seen to make sales, right? The way to do that on YouTube is to be bingable. You want to make sure you’re doing exactly what you can to get the algo to push more of your videos to your audience and people who may not be in your audience yet.

So obviously, you need multiple videos to do that.

You don’t even have to talk about completely different topics across each one either. This is where a series comes in handy! You keep on expanding on the same topic, and people want more and more of what they’re watching!

A video can be powerful on its own, but when you put it into a series, people will want to watch a few of your videos in a row. And YouTube will notice that and push your content to even more people it thinks want to see it so people stay on the platform longer.

Have a digital product to sell instead?

You can see that YouTube is less about showing off an offer, and more about priming that audience to want that offer. It’s all about forming connections and building trust with people in your audience. THAT’S how you make it count.

But what if you don’t have online courses? What if you’re trying to sell digital products in 2023?

Then catch the video below — I’m showing you similar advice geared toward digital products! If you want to rock that sales funnel, get more eyes on your offer, and convert, then this one’s for you!
