4 Ways to Generate More Sales For Your Biz With YouTube

If you’re selling an online course or digital product…you may be doing YouTube all wrong. So many people are following advice on how to grow a channel, not a business. Which is completely flip-flopped!

The truth is, views and subscribers don’t really matter when you want to generate sales with YouTube. When you own a business, YouTube is all about creating content that drives people to buy. And it’s all a part of your content plan at large.

And you need to start thinking of YouTube like a strategic tool, not just another place to post!

So in this post, I will show you how to dig a little deeper to create a tactical YouTube strategy that can help you grow your biz — especially if you sell online courses or digital products!

#1: Quality > quantity

The best way to attract your target audience is to create quality, well-thought-out, strategic content. Not just pumping out videos for the sake of posting.

But to do that, you have to really understand your people and their pain points, and then show them that you can help them. And when you do that, they will want to watch more of your videos.

They can see that you just get them, and have the right resources to help them overcome XYZ.

And when people watch more, the YouTube algo knows to bump more of your videos to them.

It’s a win-win situation (or I guess you could say, cycle!).

#2: Focus on the right traffic sources

You need to focus on the right traffic sources, too: search, suggested, and browse.

Remember, you have to know your audience, their problems, and how to help them. And when people have a problem, what do they do? They search for a solution.

Does that mean keyword stuffing is the answer? Nope! But it does mean that you need to position your content — whether through the title, thumbnail, description, etc. — to be found.

Once you can get the right viewers clicking on your content in search, the algo will start to understand the best type of people for your content, and start putting your videos in suggestions and browsing to people who might be interested.

Again — it’s that you help me, I help you think with the algo (because YouTube wants people to stay on their platform as long as possible!).

#3: Mind those metrics

Once you build up a consistent audience, you need to start tracking key metrics.

But this can be a mind game because (general) we are so fixated on vanity metrics with social media. More views, more likes, more followers, the better, right?

When you are trying to sell more online courses or digital products, you need to look at DIFFERENT metrics. Viewers don’t really show a connection to traffic on your sales page, but you know what does?

  • Click-through rates: Are people coming in from those traffic sources I mentioned above?

  • Audience retention: Are people actually watching your videos?

  • Pay attention to the comments: What are people saying? Is it positive? Negative? Are they confused? You can get a lot of insight from these.

Not sure where to find your metrics? Head over to the YouTube Analytics page, which will automatically calculate everything for you!

#4: Add structure to your videos

Like any other piece of content, you want to make sure things are clear and organized. They need to follow a pattern from start to finish that reel in your audience and keeps them watching until the end.

So ALWAYS open with a hook! People don’t know who you are yet, and honestly, they won’t care until you show them how you can help. That’s why hooking them, or teasing that you have answers, helps draw attention.

And you need to get them hooked immediately and get to the good stuff within the first 30 seconds to make them stick around. Otherwise, they’ll lose interest and peace out.

Then, sprinkle in authority pieces (testimonials, stories, etc.), so they get to know you better. This helps you build rapport with your audience so they see the value in your content and make a connection with you, which builds trust over time.

Lastly, don’t forget the CTA at the end of each and every video!
