Starting a YouTube channel in 2021? Everything You Need To Know!

Want to start a YouTube Channel in 2021? It's absolutely not too late for you to do that! In this video, I'm going to show you how to start a successful YouTube channel.

Starting a YouTube channel is such an exciting journey but it can feel a little overwhelming. That's why I'm covering how to start a youtube channel for beginners, so you can dive right in. I'm giving you all the best YouTube tips so you can learn how to grow on YouTube in 2021!

Now this is a very information heavy topic because I want you to be able to get the most you can out of this so you can start that YouTube channel. I highly recommend watching the video above for the full experience. Let's dig in!

Just Get Started

You need to just rip the bandaid off and get started posting videos on YouTube. The best part about this is that you don't have to go in blindly. You can take your most popular blog content or social media content and turn those into videos!

This is going to save you time in two different ways.

  1. You won't have to waste time figuring out what your video should be about. You already know what's performing well for you!

  2. You'll pretty much already have a script. This is going to be great for you come filming day!

Your Next Step is going to be...

Choosing Your Niche

Niche can feel like such a very vague thing to dig into. But you need to know who you're reaching and what your channel is all about. In other words, what is the umbrella of content your channel will cover?

This is going to help you not only when it comes to coming up with content ideas but also when you're filling out your channel description or your channel keywords.

Once you know your niche, you can start to break the keywords that go with that niche into pillars of content. Or series!

Figure Out What to Say

Once you know all of that, you need to figure out what to say. This is broken down in a few sections.

  • Start with a title. You need to know your title in order to move on effectively.

  • Lead with a Hook. You want to be able to deliver on what your title promises within the first 3-5 seconds of the video.

  • A Quick Introduction. This is just to tell people very quickly who you are.

  • The Meat of the Content. This is the main content and why people are watching. You can break it up into steps or tips even!

  • The Call to Action. This is the key to ending your video is giving your audience a next step.

Know What Types of Videos to Make

One of the biggest pieces of your channel and getting viewers to your channel is by creating content that relates to how tos. People are looking on YouTube for answers to their questions and when you create a video around that answer, you're creating a certain type of content.
That content is discoverable videos. These are videos that are going to lead new viewers to your channel.

The next step would be community videos. These are videos meant to help you connect with your audience. They aren't necessarily meant to bring traffic but instead make people who are already subscribed feel more connected to you.

The final piece of this puzzle would be sales videos. These videos are meant to drive sales or get them to grab freebies to get into your funnel.

Algorithm & Analytics.

There are so many algorithms happening on YouTube but right now, the heavy focus is on the YouTube Trifecta. This is made up from...

  • Click through rate- How many people are clicking through your videos.

  • Audience Retention- YouTube doesn't want to promote videos that have viewers drop off. You want to make sure your audience is sticking around!

  • End Screen Click Through Rate- The next best thing you can do is send your viewer to another video!

Focus on the Right Things

You absolutely don't need the fancy equipment. In fact, you can absolutely start with your cell phone. You don't need to stress about your background. Start with a blank wall even!

Just get started with what you have!

Thumbnails & Titles

Want to make sure that your click through rates are high? You need to make sure your thumbnails and titles are enticing!

Your thumbnail should reflect the emotion you want to show with your video and then have a few pieces of text that compliment the title. This means you DON'T want to repeat the title in the thumbnails.

So what about the title then? This should be very headliney. Almost click bait but without the dishonesty. This is going to help get people to click!

Plan Your Videos

This is probably the biggest tip I can give you. You need to plan your content out and I'm talking about even planning when you film. Block off your calendar for a filming day. If you don't plan to film you probably won't end up filming!

Now to make those filming days go more smoothly, you need to have a video game plan. This means knowing what your thumbnail will be, what your title will be and even what you'll say in your video.
